Of course I’ve reached the age at which one hopes that “more blessed to give than to receive” is a literal truth, but if I were still young enough to believe in
Did I ever imagine that, within my own lifetime rather than in some far-off Asimovian future, it would be possible to buy a personal supercomputer? The price is £4,000, which isn’t cheap but isn’t outlandish either, and falling every day.
Alternatively, some guy has rigged up a prototype of a personal Predator drone. Not in production yet, and it may take another Heller decision to make it available in Chicago, but truly nifty.
Clearly, the Pentagon is doing its part to cut costs in tough economic times.
