The most that President Obama could bring himself to say in condemnation of the Iranian mullarchy’s electoral fraud was –
Martin Luther King once said - “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” I believe that. The international community believes that. And right now, we are bearing witness to the Iranian peoples’ [sic] belief in that truth, and we will continue to bear witness.
In progress today are show trials of dissidents and alleged outside agitators. I wondered how the Obama Administration was continuing to “bear witness” to “the arc of the moral universe”. So I logged into the State Department’s Web site. On the home page, as of this moment, there is nary a word about Iran. There is an “Iran” link buried far down the page. Click on it, and you find these “highlights”:
U.S. Seeks Confirmation from Iran about Detention of Three Americans
U.S. Concerned About Detained Iranian American Scholar
U.S. Interested in Engagement With Iran
I guess the witness is exercising his right to remain silent.
Having watched this guy's efforts to bend the health-care cost curve, I'm not optimistic about his chances with the arc of the moral universe.
