Last month, President Biden’s press secretary earned fifteen minutes of notoriety with her definition of “extremism”: “And so, when you are not with where a majority of Americans are, then, you know, that is extreme. That is an extreme way of thinking.”
This month, the Biden Administration will go before the Supreme Court to defend the practice of making race and ethnicity major factors in college admissions. The Pew Research Center recently surveyed Americans’ views on how much weight those factors ought to have. This table, to which Pew gave a classic lede-burying caption, summarizes the results:
Evidently, there are some issues about which the Bidenauts think it’s hunky-dory to be “extreme”, even if only seven percent of Americans and nine percent of Democrats concur.
