Well, “success” may not be le bon mot, but the consensus is that Governor Haley is doing better than any Republican Presidential aspirant without orange hair. I’d like to note one possible contributor to that relatively strong showing that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere.
Every day, I receive at least one e-mail and two text messages from the Haley campaign. By contrast, I hear almost nothing from Ron DeSantis: perhaps half a dozen e-mails and no texts over the last several months. Even Vivek Ramaswamy has pestered me more often.
It’s true that the drumbeat of Haley communications hasn’t influenced me, nor am I offended by Governor DeSantis’s silence. I imagine, though, that a fair number of voters whose opinions are more malleable than mine do respond favorably to candidates who ask for their votes. Maybe DeSantis’s high-paid consultants ought to have given it a try.
